We were just starting to wind-down from the
excitement of E3 and WWDC, and Nokia’s already
thrown a curve ball our way. Invites for an event
scheduled for July 11 have been sent out with the
tagline “Zoom Reinvented.” We’re putting out money
on the fact that that’s when the company will
introduce the heavily-leaked Nokia Lumia EOS,
the 41 megapixel Windows Phone 8 device.
The invite that went out specifically emphasizes on
the ability of zoom. We’re led to believe that this will
be thanks to the innovative thinking up in Nokia’s
Imaging R&D department coupled up with the insane
pixel count on the Lumia EOS.
We’ve seen the Nokia PureView 808 , which also
had a 41 megapixel sensor and performed incredibly
well as an imaging device. Even if Nokia packs in the
EXACT same sensor into the Lumia EOS, they would
still have a winner on their hands as no camera
phone in the market comes close to the imaging
quality from the half-inch slab of Nokia Silicon,
coupled with a modern OS such as Windows Phone
8.
However, it wouldn’t be farfetched to think that
Nokia would have significantly improved on the
sensor design and algorithms to yield much better
image quality. We know for sure that the Optical
Image Stabilization from the Lumia 920 will also
be present in the Lumia EOS, which should make it
an ideal camera phone for many.
