The much-awaited Nokia Asha 501 is available for pre-orders at the Nokia's online store in India. The latest Nokia smartphone is available for Rs. 5,199. Its low-cost is considered to be a crucial factor as India is a price sensitive market.

Given the reputation of the Finnish handset maker in India and the affordable price of the handset, Nokia Asha 501 will surely attract youths and other first time buyers.

Despite taking pre-orders for Asha 501, there are no words about the actual arrival date for the phone. It is expected to hit the stores this week only.

Nokia Asha 501 has got an entirely new software platform having a 3-inch QVGA TFT capacitive display. In fact, Asha 501 is the first device to run on the new Asha platform and the company chose India to launch the device globally. The smartphone will come with a 128 MB of inbuilt flash memory.

The official website of Nokia claims that the scratch-resistant glass screen and changeable covers stand up to life. It has got a very strong battery life that can support 48 days of stand-by time.
