Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Tuesday said it’s time to wait and watch before commenting on the probability of the sulking BJP leader Gopinath Munde joining the Congress.
'Wait and watch', said when he was asked by reporters on the issue at state government's Sahyadri guest house.
Earlier, senior Congress leader and Maharashtra Forest Minister Patangrao Kadam said that Munde has to first take a decision on his future course of action.
"Let him first take a decision on his future course of action and if he wishes to join the Congress, decision in this regard will be taken by the party high command," Kadam told reporters.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Maharasthra Assembly Eknath Khadse on Tuesday said that Munde will not leave the party.
"Munde is in the party and with the party. There is no question of him leaving the party. Munde is our leader and news of talks failing are just rumouring. The talks are going on in a positive direction," said Khadse.
Sources say Munde is insisting on being made the leader of the opposition in Maharashtra Assembly and has also proposed to swap his Lok Sabha seat with his daughter Pankaja, who is a state MLA.
Gopinath Munde is fed up with state president Nitin Gadkari and the party top brass for "not giving him his due". And the talk is he might even join the Congress.
