Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) that nationally operates its telecom services under the MTS brand with over 16 million wireless customers on mondya launched its high-speed mobile broadband service, MBlaze, in seven new towns in Kerala.
They are-Valappad, Pappinisseri, Vadakkancheri, Perinjanam, Thiruvalla, Cherpu and Kodungallur across Kerala Circle. With this roll out, MTS extends its current MBlaze footprint to 65 towns across the Circle.
According to Radhakrishnan KV, Chief Operating Officer Kerala Circle, MTS India, “MTS is focused on expanding its high speed data network across the country. In line with Company’s Data Centric Voice Enabled strategy, I am proud to announce the launch of MBlaze services in seven new towns in the circle. This latest expansion will enable MTS data customers in Valappad, Pappinisseri, Vadakkancheri, Perinjanam, Thiruvalla, Cherpu and Kodungallur to experience the state-of-art HSD services including on the go access to Live TV and Video-on-Demand”. Adding further, Radhakrishnan said, “I am also happy to share that MTS has about 65,000 high speed data customers across Kerala”.
As per Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) September 2012 report, the broadband penetration in India stands at about 1 % as against the Wireless Teledensity of 75.21% and 14.68 Million broadband connections as of July 2012. The National Broadband Plan envisages provision of 160 million broadband connections including 60 million wireless broadband connections by the year 2014. Hence, there is a huge opportunity for the growth and proliferation of High Speed Mobile Broadband services in the country.
MTS provides High Speed Mobile Broadband services in over 420 towns across India including the top five metros. The company is rapidly expanding its high speed data (HSD) network and currently addresses over 92% of data potential across India.
