Motorola Moto G4 to launch on May 17

Motorola, which is now owned by Lenovo, will launch Moto G4 phone on May 17. In India the company is holding a media event in Delhi where it will announce the G4, a phone that will succeed the hugely-popular Moto G3.

Just like the Moto G3, the Moto G4 is also likely to have two variants. But this time the differences between the two devices could be more than just the amount of RAM. While it is certain that Motorola will launch a G4 with 5.5-inch screen, at the moment we cannot confirm if it will also be accompanied by a regular 5-inch version. But if there are indeed two devices, one of them is likely to be called the Moto G4 Plus.

Earlier we saw a few leaked images of the Moto G4. It sports a slightly tweaked design and has curvier edges and extremely thin bezels. The screen of the Moto G4 is going to sport FullHD aka 1080p resolution, which would be a step up from the 720p screen in the G3.

In the internal hardware too, you can expect a bump. After sticking to quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor for years, this year Motorola will move to an octa-core processor for the main Moto G series. Although this processor is likely to be the same Snapdragon 615 found in the Moto G Turbo. The phone will have at least 2GB RAM. It will also have a fingerprint.

Another component that will get some more love for Motorola in the G4 is the camera. Although it is certain to have a 13-megapixel camera, that is likely to be accompanied by a high-end flash or focus system.

For Motorola, the Moto G series is its most important phone series. The Moto G phones have been the best-sellers for the company and have even garnered a fan following due to the clean Android experience they offer at very reasonable prices. But the Moto G4 also gains special significance this year because it could be the first true phone to launch under the aegis of Lenovo, which is now integrating Motorola into its main business.

I wish it comes with at least snapdragon 650 but since they have mentioned octa core I think it ll be SD 617 not 615 which had heating issues. 650 is hexa core but a far better processor than the 617. Lets see if Lenovo has any sweet surprises.
