It was back in October, when Motorola announced that Android Nougat will soon be coming to a bunch of its devices. Among the list were the new Moto X , the Moto G4 series, the new Moto Z series too, however, from the beginning the Moto E3 Power had been missing from the list. But many continued to speculate that Motorola will soon add the device in the list of smartphones to receive the update. However, this may be the end of all the speculation.
Motorola has updated its support page listing the details of those devices that are to be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat, and unfortunately, the Moto E3 Power is excluded from the list. In other words, the device is likely to remain on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The reason why all this while there had been constant speculation regarding the update to the Moto E3 Power, is because the handset was only released back in September 2016, and everyone assumed its compatibility with the new operating system.
While the Moto E3 Power is stuck on Android Marshmallow OS, other Motorola smartphones like the Moto Z, Moto M , Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, Moto X Play, among others have begun to or already have received the updates. Other than that, Sony Xperia X and X Compact , Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge , OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3 T, also have been getting the Nougat update.
Moto E3 Power specifications, features
The Moto E3 Power features a 5-inch IPS HD (1280×720 pixels) display. It is powered by MediaTek’s MT6735p quad-core processor clocked at 1GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM. There is also 16GB onboard storage that can be expanded using a microSD card.
On the camera front, the Moto E3 Power sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash. The camera also features modes like burst, HDR, Panorama and tap-to-focus. Up front is a 5-megapixel selfie camera for video calling and selfies. The Moto E3 Power comes with a 3,500mAh battery with Turbo Charging feature. Motorola says the battery is good enough to last for the entire day and even 15 minutes of charging can offer battery life of up to five hours.
On the connectivity front, the smartphone includes 4G VoLTE support, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS and dual-SIM card slots. On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 6.0 out-of-the-box. The Moto E3 Power also comes with a splash-proof body and a nano coating on the outside as well as inside which makes the smartphone water repellent, which means it is able to survive an accidental splash of water or light rains.
