Moto E is the watered down version of Moto G, which in itself is a spec-rich phone.Flipkart, leading e-commerce website which has exclusive rights to sell Moto G and Moto X will be selling the Moto E as well.

Why does Moto E (or any Motorola phone) matter
Google doesn’t make smartphones. It’s not a mobile hardware company. What it does is, roll out the software, Android to other mobile manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola etc. But then Google bought Motorola, and now with a hardware manufacture in house, it was believed that Motorola will get speedy software updates and some exclusive features. To a great extent, that is exactly what happened.
Quick Updates
There are several mobile OEMs (manufacturers), which take a lot of time to push Android’s new update to their handsets. Then there is an update cycle that all the mobile companies follow, under which, there is only a couple of updates a mobile is allowed to get.
Motorola got the KitKat update to its Moto X and Moto G phones within days after Google’s announcement. It beat any other company, especially Samsung, which is the biggest and most successful Android mobile manufacturer, at rolling out updates.
Almost pure Android experience
The mobile partners often put some company’s applications and bloatwares on the phone. Motorola on the other hand is the closest you can get to see a clean and pure Android.
Value for money: Spec and feature rich phones
Motorola is onto something, it is making incredibly spec-rich devices at an unmatched affordable price point. Plus, its commitment to provide update cycle to its handsets is awe-inspiring.
Success of Moto G
Perhaps the best mid-level smartphone your money can buy, Moto G is company’s fastest and most successful device till date (sold over 6.5 million units in 2014). It has done incredibly well here in India as well.
