Motorola, which is now a Lenovo-owned
company, has announced that since its re-entry
in the Indian market it has sold 2.5 million
smartphones.

Motorola re-entered the Indian market back in
February with the launch of the Moto G.
Considering the fact that the company sells its
phones only through Flipkart, this is an
impressive number.

The company so far has introduced the Moto
G, the Moto E, the Moto X, the Moto G (2nd
gen) and the Moto X (2nd gen). While the
break-up of the numbers is not known,
Motorola's meteoric rise has been fuelled by
high-quality but value for money devices like
the Moto G and the Moto E.

All Moto phones run pure Android as Google
implements on its Nexus hardware with
minimal add-ons which results in smooth
performance and fast updates.

Combined with Lenovo, Motorola is now the
third largest smartphone manufacturer in the
world. Lenovo recently closed the Motorola
acquisition from Google and it intends to run it
as a separate company for the time being.

That said, internally Lenovo executives have
said both the mobile divisions will work as a
single unit.
