The OnePlus 2 has just been unleashed into the world, but Motorola is keen to show that not all high-end phones are vulnerable to the “2016 Flagship Killer.”

In fact, the Lenovo-owned company seems confident that thoughtful features, deep customization options, and a refined design can render its new Moto X Style and Moto X Play immune to the murderous attacks ofOnePlus 2 and its kin.

After revealing the next-gen Moto G at aseparate event in India this morning, Motorola just introduced the Moto X Style, and this is where you can find out all the essential details about it, as they are revealed. Let’s get right down to it!

Moto X Style specs and features

The latest device comes with a Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB RAM, a 5.7 QHD display, 16/32/64GB storage with microSD, a 21MP camera that Motorola says is state of the art, and a refined, stylish design that offers a curved back, front facing speakers, and the choice of three different metallic accents.

Here are the full Moto X Style specs:

The Moto X Style features a large 5.7-inch Quad HD display, jumping from 5.2-inch last year. We’re fan of big phones around Android Authority, but we imagine plenty of users would have preferred Motorola to stick with the smaller size. This is a TFT LCD screen, a departure from the Moto X (2014) AMOLED panel.

The battery is a 3,000 mAh unit, which is still pretty good, but far less than the 3,630 unit found on the Moto X Play. With that said, Motorola promises excellent battery life (up to 30h with moderate usage) and the presence of TurboPower charging should help even more. TurboPower lets you add up to 10 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes of charging, which is pretty impressive. Motorola was keen to compare TurboPower with the fast charging feature of the Galaxy S6 – in its own tests, TurboPower supposedly loads 50% more charge in the same time.

Motorola CEO promised that the cameras on the Moto X Style will be terrific, and judging from the specs alone, it doesn’t look like he is grossly exaggerating. You get a 21MP sensor on the back, while the front features a 5MP sensor, which is pretty standard on flagship phones these days. We can’t wait to try out the Moto X Style camera to see just how good it is – the stakes are high – the imaging experience held down its predecessors, so if Motorola got the camera right this time, the Moto X Style could turn out to be a real winner.

The Moto X Style will have a Pure Edition variant (unlocked, bloat-free) featuring universal LTE capability, which means customers will be able to use it on any network in the US.

On the rear, you’ll find a coated silicon rubber that is soft feeling with a warm look but as been formulated to resist discoloration over time. This new option joins the classic natural wood and leather options from before, and these have been expanded with new finishes as well.

Moto X Style price and availability

The new Moto X Style will cost “$200 to $300″ less than flagships from rival brands (Samsung and Apple were mentioned specifically), though no firm price tag has been mentioned just yet. The Moto X Style will be available from September, with more details on actual availability by market to come in the close future.

However, we don know that the Moto X Style Pure will cost $399 and sell through Amazon, Best Buy, and Motorola.com.
