Earlier this week, photos of what were touted to be ‘Moto M’ and ‘Moto M Plus’ devices were spotted online. The latest addition to the list of leaks about upcoming Motorola smartphones is what could possibly be a new Moto X. The smartphone was first rumored earlier this year and expected to feature new-age hardware elements like a dual-camera module and 4K video recording capabilities among others. Now giving a visual to the earlier leaked speculations is an image shared by serial leaker Evan Blass who has shared an image with #mysterymoto tag.

Lenovo-owned Motorola recently unveiled its modular smartphone Moto Z with Moto Mods add-ons to enhance speakers, photography, or battery. The Moto Z smartphone made the LG G5 look pale in comparison given the ease with which users could snap on the various mods without the need for any expertise. Now the latest image hints at another regularly designed smartphone but one that includes dual front-facing speakers and front camera flash. The image is a rather blurry impression of what could possibly be the purported device. According to a report on Android Pit, the smartphone could also be named ‘Moto X Style 2016’ or ‘Lenovo Moto X Style (2016)’.

Earlier this year, a Moto X (2016) smartphone carrying model number XT1650 was spotted on benchmarking website GeekBench, revealing some of the specifications of the rumored device. According to the leaked details, the smartphone sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD display (2560×1440 pixels) and is powered by a 2.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Quad-core chipset with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 530 GPU. The details further hinted at the speculated Moto X (2016) smartphone coming with 32GB of onboard storage with no mention of further storage expansion.

The Moto X (2016) is likely to feature a 21-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera setup at the rear which could possibly make it the maximum in terms of megapixel count as compared to all the smartphones with dual-camera module released recently. However, for selfies, the Moto X (2016) will continue to be restricted to 5-megapixel snapper. It is yet unclear if the company wants to follow LG and HTC in adding depth sensors or wide-angle sensors for its speculated device. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone is expected to come with Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac support. The smartphone in all possibility run the newer Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Given the sudden surge in dual-camera setup, also introduced in Apple and Google’s latest iPhone 7 Plus and Pixel XL smartphones, a similar adoption by other manufacturers only seems evident. Adding a new field to the world of photography, better smartphone cameras have now become one of the prime factors to look for when it comes to making a purchase decision. A lot of consumers might not possess the knowledge of how the number of megapixel or sensor quality helps the end-result, but the megapixel count still becomes their focus point. The new-age phenomenon of compressing dual cameras in the smartphone is to essentially offer a DSLR-like photography experience.

As with the USB Type-C port, the dual-camera module is also set to gradually become an industry norm with more smartphones offering the feature aimed at better smartphone photography. It is still a rumor that Motorola too will add the dual-camera setup to its anticipated Moto X (2016) smartphone and whether it will also bring the feature to a premium variant of the device.
