Motorola has officially announced that Android
Lollipop aka Android 5 is available to Moto G
(2nd gen) and Moto X (2nd gen) is available in
the US. The update is available for unlocked
phones, which are not sold with carrier
contracts.
For now the update is not only available in the
US. But if everything goes well, the update
should start rolling out to users in other
countries within a few days.
Later, Motorola plans to provide Android
Lollipop update to older versions of the Moto
G, Moto X and Moto E.
"Get ready for something sweet! Android 5.0,
Lollipop is officially here for some of our
Motorola devices," Motorola engineer Seshadri
Tangutur wrote on the official blog. "We've
started to roll out Lollipop in phases just a
week after the public release of the software...
Hope you find the update as sweet as we do."
Incidentally, Motorola again beat Google by
announcing Android update for its phones.
Both the Moto G and the Moto X started
getting Android Lollipop several hours before
Google announced it for Nexus 5 and the
Nexus 7 (2013).
