The official ota for moto g first generation lollipop 5.1 is rolling out to few users in India. Fortunately one of the xda members made a zip file out of the ota. There are certain prerequisites to flash it like
1. Should be on official 5.0.2
2. Shouldn't be rooted
I was able to update to 5.1 with this method. Please see below the image. If it's Ok to post the xda link here, I'll post it.
This version of lollipop seems to be more stable and snappy. As of now I'm happy with it. I'll keep you posted with any issues I might face!!
