New Norwich City striker Steve Morison intends to hit the ground running in the Barclays Premier League.
The 27-year-old Wales international was playing non-league football with Bishop's Stortford until 2006 when he moved on to Stevenage before his move to Millwall.
Now he is set to make the transition to the top-flight having joined Paul Lambert's summer recruitment drive at Carrow Road in a reported £3m move from the Championship club.
Morison, however, knows the hard work starts now as the Norwich squad return for the start of pre-season training ahead of what is expected to be a testing first Premier League campaign since 2005 for the Norfolk club, who start at Wigan Athletic, before hosting Stoke City and then travelling to Chelsea.
"I just want to get into the team first and then play as many games and score as many goals as I can and ultimately help Norwich stay in the Premier League," Morison said.
"If I do that and show what I am capable of then I am sure that I can get the fans on my side fairly quickly."
Lambert has been busy in the transfer market, the arrival of combative midfielder Bradley Johnson from Leeds United on a free transfer adding to the purchases of striker James Vaughan from Everton, winger Elliott Bennett from Brighton and young Belgian defender Ritchie de Laet on loan from Manchester United.
Norwich are also said to be closing in on Anthony Pilkington after Huddersfield revealed the 23-year-old winger had asked to leave.
The Canaries will kick off their warm-up campaign at local Ridgeons Football League side Gorleston Town on 16th July, and by the time the squad heads out to Germany for a short training camp, Lambert is expected to have added more new faces.
After missing out on England Under-21 international Steven Caulker after he joined fellow Barclays Premier League newcomers Swansea on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, Norwich have been linked with a move for Congo defender Herita Ilunga, who is keen to play in the top-flight again following West Ham United's relegation.
