Having just made a comeback after a
long lay-off, Mohammed Shami, the
Indian pacer, reportedly suffered
another injury during India's first
warm-up fixture against Western
Australia XI on Friday (January 8).
Shami, who did not bowl in India's 74-
run victory in the Twenty20
International (T20I) tour game, hurt
his hamstring in training.
According to a report of Sportsar,
Shami's condition will be assessed on
Saturday (January 9) when India play
their second warm-up tie - a 50-over
clash. It is understood that Jasprit
Bumrah, the Gujarat pacer, has been
put on standby. The lanky fast bowler
has made big strides in the ongoing
domestic season, finishing as the
highest wicket-taker in the Vijay
Hazare trophy (21 wickets in 9
matches) as Gujarat were crowned
champions.

Bumrah on stand-by
..

Gujarat pacer Jasprit Bumrah is
understood to have been placed on
stand-bye. Gujarat Cricket Association
secretary Rajesh Patel confirmed the
development, adding that the
association has been intimated that
Bumrah may have to be released from
the Gujarat squad any time.
Bumrat has been on the selectors’
radar for a while. The pacer finished as
the highest wicket-taker in the Vijay
Hazare Trophy, helping Gujarat
emerge national champions.
It is understood that the national
selection panel had marked him as the
first stand-by while finalising the
squad for the five ODIs and three
Twenty20s in Australia. Shami’s tour in jeopardy: The Hindu - Mobile edition
