Mobikwik registers 2 million downloads of its Lite app within 48 hours

Digital payments firm, Mobikwik which launched a Lite version of its mobile wallet app, claims that it has registered 2 million downloads within 48 hours of its launch. The app claims to the lightest app consuming under 1 MB of space, and facilitates adaption to wallet payments by the unorganised sector even with basic smartphones and data connections.

Upasana Taku , Co-founder of MobiKwik said, that they launched MobiKwik Lite with an objective to help masses across the country go cashless. "This astounding response demonstrates that a right & simple product, that resolves a real issue, will always be accepted well by the masses.”

The app also enables users in receiving payments through UPI and wallets, including MobiKwik by sending an SMS to their customers. Bank transfers are also free for all MobiKwik Lite users till March 31, 2017. MobiKwik Lite is available in Hindi and English languages and other Indian languages are being launched shortly.

“MobiKwik Lite has a very simple interface for the sellers and their customers do not even need to download the app to make payments. We hope to reach the milestone of 10 million downloads by early 2017.” Upasana added.

Lite Apps are future in India. Because telecom operators like Airtel charging too much for data and that with fuss speed :angry

Now 2g data should be free atleast 500 MB per day
