Micromax has quietly added a new handset to its line of Canvas smartphones, called the Canvas Fire 6. The smartphone is the latest to feature on the company’s official website. Though, there are no details about its price and availability as yet. Featuring 96db loud speakers with amplifier and ‘B-Bass Technology’, the Canvas Fire 6 is aimed at audiophiles.
The Canvas Fire 6 comes with a fingerprint scanner, which was missing on the predecessor Canvas Fire 5 . But the new smartphone misses out on the dual front speakers that were available on the Canvas Fire 5. When the Canvas Fire 5 was launched, it was priced at Rs 6,199. Therefore, one could expect the new Canvas Fire 6 to be available in the same price range.
Micromax Canvas Fire 6 Specifications
The Canvas Fire 6 features a 5-inch HD IPS display. The smartphone is powered by a cortex-A53 processor clocked at 1GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone further includes 8GB of internal storage that is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. On the camera front, the Canvas Fire 6 features an 8-megapixel rear camera combined with a 2-megapixel front camera for selfies. The rear camera further offers HD video recording and playback.
The Canvas Fire 6 is based on the older Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. The smartphone keeps up with a 3,050mAh battery that is claimed to offer 27 hours of talktime and 550 hours of standby time. Connectivity options include 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
USP of the smartphone, which otherwise comes with unimpressive specs, is its audio technology. Micromax is claiming that the 96db loud speakers and amplifier ensure that even the highest or the lowest of notes are audible in rich detail. The B-Bass Technology is claimed to offer low-frequency sound output at 680Hz for clearer audio.
If compared to its predecessor, the Canvas Fire 5 came with a larger 5.5-inch HD display. It featured a rear and front camera combination of 8-megapixel and 5-megapixel respectively. The Canvas Fire 5 further runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and comes with 16GB of internal storage.
In the budget smartphone category, each day a number of smartphones are added. In order to differentiate their product from the crowded segment, manufacturers attempt to often resort to certain features which could be marketed as the highlight. While some offer a ‘selfie-smartphone’ others promise ‘bumper battery’.
If the Canvas Fire 6 is announced at a price in line with the Canvas Fire 5, which is less than Rs 7,000, then the smartphone will face tough competition from the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 3s (priced at Rs 6,999), Coolpad Mega 2.5D (priced at Rs 6,999) and Reliance LYF Wind 7 (priced at Rs 6,999).
The Xiaomi Redmi 3s features a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a Snapdragon 430 1.4GHz octa-core processor with 2GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. In terms of camera, the Redmi 3s offers a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and PDAF while a 5-megapixel front snapper with f/2.2 aperture is included for selfies. In terms of power, the smartphone comes with 4,100mAh battery.
The Coolpad Mega 2.5D comes with 5.5-inch HD display. It is powered by a 64-bit 1GHz Mediatek quad-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. In terms of camera, the Coolpad Mega 2.5D features an 8-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. Even for selfies, it features an 8-megapixel front camera. The smartphone draws its juice from a 2,500mAh battery.
All of Reliance’s smartphone are being offered with the introductory Jio Welcome Offer. The LYF Wind 7 comes with a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm SnapdragonTM 210 processor with 2GB of RAM. It further comes with 16GB of internal storage that is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. The phone is dual-SIM compatible. On the battery front, it comes packed with a 2,250mAh battery. In terms of camera, the smartphone features an 8-megapixel rear camera with Auto Focus and a 5-megapixel front snapper. The camera is supported by rear LED flash and is capable of video recording in 720p @30fps.
The Canvas Fire 6 is currently only listed on the company’s website and details about its exact price and availability shall only be known once Micromax formally announces the device.
