Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger to bid £80
million for Mesut Ozil, Angel di Maria and Abel
Hernandez Demba Ba a target for Arsenal after Chelsea say
he can leave Stamford Bridge Julian Draxler and Kaka are Arsene Wenger's
latest targets as Arsenal step up efforts to sign
new players Ozil has had some doubts about the move but
Arsenal are confident that the deal will be
completed before the transfer window closes at
11pm on Monday. They are offering him a deal to become the club’s
highest paid player, with wages of around
£150,000-a-week being proposed. Theo Walcott
is currently the highest paid player on £105,000-
a-week. The club’s previous transfer record was
the £15 million spent on Andrei Arshavin. Manchester United were earlier said to have
joined the race for the Germany international and
the odds on Ozil moving to Old Trafford
plummeted on Monday morning amid speculation
the Germany star would prefer a move to
Manchester. But it is understood that David Moyes has not
identified Ozil as a target and has no intention of
hijacking any deal Arsenal may be working on. The news will doubtless disappoint some United
fans, but Moyes is evidently looking to
strengthen his squad. Everton duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton
Baines remain on his shopping list, although
there is a strong possibility that of the two, only
the Belgian midfielder will eventually arrive at Old
Trafford. There has been speculation Fellaini would hand in
a transfer request in a bid to force through a deal.
However, this is thought unlikely as it would be
unnecessary under the circumstances. Due to sheer geography, that transfer could
happen quite late, with the deadline falling at
11pm. The same is not true of Athletic Bilbao's Ander
Herrera, who has been heavily linked with a
move to Manchester United in recent days. Left out of the starting line-up for Sunday's defeat
at Real Madrid, Herrera would presumably have
to fly to England to complete a medical should
terms be agreed, which would put an obvious
time limit on the transfer getting a significant
push forward. Moyes was giving little away following his side's
1-0 defeat at Liverpool, when United failed to
score in successive Premier League matches for
the first time since May 2007. "There's a bit of all sorts of things going on," said
Moyes. "Maybe in the next how many hours we will get
a chance, but I can't give you a heads up. "It's not too long before we will know." source Transfer deadline day: Mesut Ozil on brink of move to Arsenal after £42m fee agreed with Real Madrid - Telegraph
