Meizu has sent out media invites for an event on April 13 in Beijing, where it will be launching the much-rumored Pro 6. The smartphone has been on the rumor mills for quite some time now, and its highlights are believed to be 6GB of RAM, and MediaTek’s Helio X25 chipset. With just a couple of days to the launch event, here’s a collation of everything we know about the smartphone so far.
Meizu recently shared a photo of the Pro 6 online, showcasing a design that is in line with recent leaks. Apart from the big form factor and the curved edges, an interesting thing to note is the camera flash. It looks Meizu has opted for a ring of LEDs circling the laser autofocus, and as per reports, this ring could have as many as 10 LEDs. There is currently no word on why Meizu could be opting for so many LEDs, but seems like low-light photography is one area of focus.
Meizu Pro 6 specifications, features:
From what we have come across so far, the Pro 6 will flaunt a 5.7-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) Super AMOLED display, and will be powered by MediaTek’s latest Helio X25 chipset with 10-cores. This new chipset is believed to be exclusive to the Pro 6 for the time being at least.
Another talking point of the Pro 6 will be 6GB of RAM. This will be only the second smartphone after the Vivo XPlay 5 to boast this much RAM. The company is also expected to launch another variant of the smartphone, which will come with 4GB of RAM and Samsung’s Exynos 8890 chipset. The Pro 6 is also expected to feature 21-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, a 3,500mAh battery, and USB Type-C port. A fingerprint will also be included, embedded into the physical home button up front.
Last week, Meizu launched the m3 Note in China, which it plans to launch in India sometime next month. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 1.8GHz MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor, 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera up front.
It also features 16GB and 32GB storage options, hybrid dual-SIM card setup, fingerprint scanner embedded into the home button, and a 4,100mAh battery. Connectivity options include VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS, and on the software front, it runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 wrapped under Flyme OS 5.1.
