Mark Nicholas, cricket commentator and former Hampshire player, was, on Wednesday (December 28), hospitalised for the second time in three days due to abdominal pain.
On duty for the second Test between Australia and Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Nicholas was treated for the reoccurance of the abdominal pain by the Australian team doctor before being shifted to Epworth hospital in the third session of Day Three.
"Unfortunately Mark has taken ill again. He has been transported back to hospital for further tests," a Channel Nine spokesperson said without divulging any further details.
Nicholas, who was carried out of Channel Nine's studio in a stretcher on Monday, was discharged from the hospital that very night and was said to be in 'good spirits'.
"While he wants to return to the Nine Commentary team (on Tuesday), his bosses have insisted on a day's rest," a Channel Nine spokesperson had said on Monday. "He has again thanked everyone for their good wishes and support."
After a day's rest, he resumed his duty on Wednesday morning, but complained of the pain soon after the Tea break.
