Manchester United F.C. Great Ryan Giggs Announces End of Playing Career
Manchester: Manchester United great Ryan Giggs has ended his playing career after a club-record 963 appearances.
Giggs made the announcement in an open letter on United's website on Monday, the day he was hired as assistant manager to Louis van Gaal.
The 40-year-old Giggs says "for me, today is a new chapter filled with many emotions — immense pride, sadness, but most of all, excitement towards the future."
Giggs is British football's most decorated player.
