LG had gained wide attention with its V20 smartphone, one of the first devices to come with Google’s latest Android Nougat 7.0 operating system out-of-the-box. Now, LG has announced that it has started to roll out Android Nougat update to its latest flagship smartphone, LG G5. The update will be initially available to users in South Korea followed by America, Asia and other markets in the coming weeks. The LG G5 is also now one of the few smartphones right now to get the latest Android update.

How to install the Android N update?

LG G5 users will get an OTA update notification. In case you want to check manually, you can head over to Settings > About Phone > System Updates. Select “Yes, I’m in.” After the software is downloaded, select “Install now”. Once the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically and your phone will be updated to the latest Android Nougat. However, the company said that they will carry out the OTA process in phases; it will take a week or two to reach all the users in the world.

What’s new with Android Nougat?

Android Nougat 7.0 brings a host of new features to the users’ smartphones. Updating your phone to the latest Android OS will give you accessibility to features like multi-window support, which allows users to run two apps side-by-side. Google has also updated the notification center with inline reply feature, which will give users the ability to reply to text messages right from the notifications panel. Third-party apps such as WhatsApp , Hike Messenger and more, can also take advantage of this feature. Android Nougat comes with improved doze mode that works even when the screen is turned off. The Android N works in a way where less memory is consumed when screen is turned off, thus saving.

Google has also baked number blocking and call screening feature into Android Nougat. While number blocking will allow users to keep unwanted callers at bay, call screening will ensure that rejected calls don’t show up in the notifications bar. The new update has added support to new Emojis like face palm, selfie, cycling and more. Android N will also come with improved data saver mode, which will block background data consumption for apps. The new OS also gets always-on VPN support. You can setup always on VPN by heading over to Settings > More > VPN.

While the new Android update brings tons of new features, few reports claim that Nexus 6P users have been facing some battery issue after updating their phones to the Android N OS. The smartphone freezes and randomly shuts down.

Google had released the final version of Android 7.0 Nougat back in August. Once the Android N update is rolled out to the above mentioned devices, the adoption is likely to increase and new devices will run Android’s latest software out-of-the-box. We have seen that Android Marshmallow has had a slower rate of adoption and hence we expect Nougat to take over and dominate the distribution charts soon.

If you are a LG G5 user and have updated your phone to the latest Android Nougat, let us know about your experience in the comment section below.
