Smartphones are a great medium of communication and have time and again proved a boon to those with special needs. Targeting the special needs customers in India, LG has added new features to its affordable selfie smartphone — K7. The LG K7, with the new features, will make it easier for visually impaired users to make the most of the smartphone without anyone else’s assistance.
The LG K7 has been preloaded with features and applications that make interacting with the smartphone easier for even the visually impaired. It comes with voice-based apps and text magnification tools for users with disabilities ranging from mild to severe. These apps include @Voice, Cozy Magnifier & Microsope, Kota Daisy Reader, GPS Essential, PocketBook and eReader Prestigion, which are available for access right from the home screen of the smartphone. LG has further included seven e-books for free on the K7 to be read out loud by the accompanying app. To make navigation easy, LG has added features to the smartphone’s Android 5.1 operating system such as Talk Back, Screen Reading and Text-to-Speech set to English or Hindi set by default.
The LG K7 was launched alongside the LG K10 in January this year. Targeted at budget-conscious consumers, the LG K7 was launched at a price of Rs 9,500. The customized version for people with special needs carries the same price tag and features.
LG K7 specifications
The smartphone features a 5-inch FWVGA (854×480 pixels) display, and is powered by a 1.1GHz Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM. This feels a massive compromise when you consider that there are phones in this price range like, Lenovo K5 Plus ,
Samsung Galaxy On5 , and even the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime , which offer better set of specifications like HD display, and 2GB of RAM, among others.
The LG K7 also features a 5-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera with screen flash (brightens the display to offer more light when clicking selfies), and a 2,125mAh battery. There is also 8GB internal storage on offer, which can be expanded using a microSD card. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots (nano SIMs), 4G LTE support (on SIM Card 1), VoLTE and VoWiFi support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
