LG announced the LG G5 for the Indian market last week, and pre-registrations for the flagship smartphone had kicked off on Flipkart. Today, the smartphone has gone on sale on the e-commerce site along with a bunch of launch day offers. The LG G5 is priced at Rs 52,990 pitting it against the likes of the HTC 10, Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Apple iPhone 6s among others.
The LG G5 is listed on Flipkart with a price tag of Rs 52,990. There is also an exchange bonus of up to Rs 15,000, which brings the price down to Rs 37,989. Buyers are also entitled to a free battery and charging cradle worth Rs 3,499, and can also opt for no cost EMI from Bajaj Finserv. Those who pre-booked the LG G5 are also entitled to a free LG Cam Plus companion device, priced Rs 6,000. The LG G5 is available in three colors — gold, silver and titan.
LG G5 specifications, features:
The smartphone flaunts a 5.3-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) IPS display with 554ppi and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. There is also an Always On display, as well as, a Daylight mode which boosts the display’s brightness up to 850 nit.
Under the hood is a 2.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core 64-bit chipset paired with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It also comes with 32GB built-in storage, which can be further expanded using a microSD card.
On the photography front, the LG G5 is equipped with a dual-camera setup at that back, which includes a 16-megapixel 78-degree lens and an 8-megapixel 135-degree wide angle lens. The camera comes with f/2.0 aperture, and 4K video recording capabilities. For selfie lovers, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
Other features include a fingerprint scanner at the back, and a removable 2,800mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots (hybrid setup), 4G LTE support, USB Type-C port, NFC and Bluetooth 4.2. On the software front, it runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 wrapped under LG’s custom UI.
One of the talking points of the LG G5 is its modular capabilities, which differentiates the smartphone from its rivals. Called LG Friends, these swappable modules bring in or improve existing features on the smartphone.
These modules include the CAM Plus, which adds an additional battery and dedicated camera buttons for shutter, record, zoom and power. The LG 360 CAM, on the other hand, sports two 13-megapixel cameras with 200 degrees wide angle lens.
The Hi-Fi Plus with B&O Play module can play high-definition audio files encoded in 32-bit at 384KHz, whereas the 360 VR is a VR goggle that simulates the experience of watching a 130-inch TV from a distance of two meters. Lastly, the LG Rolling Bot is a companion device that can roll like a ball and capture videos and photos with its embedded 8-megapixel camera.
