LG G Flex, LG's curved offering has finally reached Indian shores and is all set to be available next week. The phone which brings some amazing innovations and technology with a vertically curved screen and an IMAX-like display will be one of the most expensive smartphones in the country.

LG G Flex comes with a 6-inch curved display. The phone’s display is slightly curved from the top to bottom. The OLED display seemingly provides better viewing experience and an IMAX-like feel to videos. According to LG, the curve is also better for speaking as the curvature brings the microphone closer to your mouth and improves sound. According to LG’s Press Release: The vertically curved design of the LG G Flex reduces the distance between one’s mouth to the microphone when the device is held against the ear, as traditional telephone handsets used to. The LG G Flex employs a curvature arc that is optimized for the average face, to deliver improved voice and sound quality. The curved form increases the sound level by 3dB compared to typical flat smartphones. According to LG, the 6-inch display of LG G Flex is the world’s largest OLED display manufactured for smartphones.

The phone comes with the external features of LG G2 and comes with naked sides and the back unlock button.

LG G Flex comes with a 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor under the hood. The 2 GB RAM coupled with 32 GB internal memory is average and nothing new as compared to other smartphones. The hardware is regular and there’s nothing new to boast of there!

The phone comes with a 13 MP rear end camera and 2.1 MP front cam. The smartphone comes with the QTheater software which gives users quick access to photos, videos and YouTube right from the lock screen. By touching the screen and dragging outward along the curved surface with both fingers, the apps appear with the effect of theatre curtains being drawn.

The phone comes with a 3500 mAh curved battery. Clearly, this is a first for LG too!

LG G Flex also boasts of some unique features. One of them is a self-healing back where the back of the smartphone heals itself in case there are any scratches or minor disturbances. The phone also has an urgent call-alert function where if you have multiple calls from one number, your LG G Flex will alert you with a different indication. Urgent Call Alert flashes the LED on the Rear Key in red as a warning. Now if only you checked the back of your phone before the front each time, this might work!

But do all of the above justify the pricing? Right since the beginning, the phone was slated to be priced at somewhere around the Rs 65k mark. But it has clearly over-shot estimation and at Rs 66,900 is the most expensive smartphone in the country. However, innovation comes at a price, doesn't it?
