Lenovo will soon be launching an entry-level smartphone called the Vibe C2, but a new report indicates that it could be marketed as the Moto E (2016) in some markets.
Yes, only some markets. That means this handset would be sold under the Vibe C2 in some regions while it’ll also be called the Moto E (2016) in other regions.
This report comes from a German online tech publication WinFuture, showing that the Vibe C2 has some strangely familiar model numbers to past Moto E variants. For instance, the Vibe C2 is expected to launch with two different model numbers: the XT1700 and XT1706.
In comparison, the original Moto E sported the model number XT1021, while the second generation of the handset sported model numbers XT1527, XT1511, XT1505, and XT1524. There’s a strange similarity here between these prior Moto E model numbers and what the Vibe C2 is toting.
So, could we see the Vibe C2 be marketed as a Moto E (2016)? It’s likely, especially considering that it fits with both the design and theme of the smartphone being a entry-level handset. But for now, we have no official confirmation.
Early rumors say that the handset will sport a 5-inch 720p display, a MediaTek MT6735P processor, 1GB of RAM, 8/16GB of internal storage, an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front shooter and a 2,750mAh battery.
Reports from earlier this year indicated that the Moto E (2016) would sport a 5-inch display and sell for a meager $78.
There’s currently no official launch date, but it should launch in Eastern Europe sometime this year.
