Here's a first look at Samsung's Project Valley, which is a smartphone that supposedly folds in half like a book - or the Nintendo DS. In addition to the flexible display, it features a Snapdragon 620 or 820 processor, 3GB of RAM, a microSD expansion slot and a non-removable battery. No word yet on pricing or availability, but expect it to be priced higher than the current Galaxy offerings.

Samsung is planning the launch of a super flexible smartphone with a foldable display, according to leaked images.

Images leaked on to Chinese social media site Weibo show a new Samsung device which is able to fold in two to be carried around, with screens on both sides.

The device, which has apparently been in development for more than a year, is codenamed ‘Project Valley’.

Reports of a foldable Samsung device first surfaced back in March, when a report in Korean newspaper Business Korea quoted an unnamed Samsung Displays official who said that the commercialisation of foldable smartphones would be possible ‘by 2016’.

The company does have previous experience in building flexible displays, having shown off its Youm concept folding device back in 2011, and recently released the curved display Galaxy S6 Edge device back in March.

Earlier this year, LG also revealed a concept “Active Bending” device featuring an edge-to edge curved display, and released the G Flex 2 smartphone, which sported a curved build designed to fit into a user’s hand.
