Laxmi Ratan Shukla, India and Bengal
cricketer, announced his retirement
from all forms of the game on
Wednesday (December 30).
"It's been 21 years that I have been
playing. I have had a wonderful career
for Bengal. I don't believe that to leave
something, there is got to be a strong
reason. I always believe whatever we
want to do only we can decide, nobody
else. And I have decided not to play
cricket anymore," Shukla told
reporters.
Shukla, who made his domestic debut
in the 1997/98 season, brought an end
to a successful domestic career with
6217 runs and 172 wickets in 137
matches. In List A cricket, he scored
2997 runs and bagged 143 wickets
from 141 games. The Bengal all-
rounder also got the opportunity to
don the national colours, playing three
One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for
India in 1999 against Sri Lanka,
Pakistan and the West Indies.
