Lava International on Wednesday launched its 'Z Series' of smartphones, marking its entry in the premium smartphone category, with Z25 and Z10 priced at Rs 18,000 and Rs 11,500 respectively.

Lava's entry into the above Rs 15,000 price bracket is part of a long term strategy where it will be targeting higher average sale prices, translating into higher revenue. The company has phased out 3G phones and is only offering 4G capable devices to consumers.

As opposed to 10-12 models across price range, the company will focus five to eight models, under Rs 15,000, only half of the models will be under Rs 10,000, that typically makes the bulk of low cost sales among Indian handset makers. "Z series is a premium product category for us which is born out of our end-to- end control on entire product value chain - from design to manufacturing," said Gaurav Nigam, Product Head, Lava International.

In the offline space, over 1 lakh stores will house Lava phones while the company plans to expand its number of service centers to 1,000. Z25 and Z10 will be available in select retail stores in Delhi from March 23, 2017 and in other cities in a few weeks’ time.

The 5.5" Lava Z25 offers 13-MP rear camera with Sony Exmor RS TM and a 8-MP selfie camera, equipped with spotlight flash. It has a 3020 mAh ATL battery and runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 operating system, with Star OS 3.3 interface. The 5.0" Lava Z10 comes with 8-MP rear and 5-MP selfie camera. It offers 2620 mAh ATL battery and runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 operating system, with Star OS 3.3 interface.

Both smartphones are powered by an Octa Core Processor and 4 GB and 2 GB RAM and 32 GB and 16 GB ROM respectively. The dual SIM devices come equipped with a multilingual keyboard that supports 11 Indian languages.
The smartphones also offer manufacturer’s warranty for a year along with 6 months warranty for the in-box accessories which include battery, headset, charger, and a USB Cable. They also come a ’30 Day Replacement Policy’.
