Bangalore, Jun 25: The Karnataka State Cricket Association, now in the hands of former cricketers like Anil Kumble, who is the President, and Javgal Srinath, the Secretary, have drawn up an ambitious plan to develop new turf wickets in different parts of the state.
Releasing the calendar of events of the local tournaments and other events, KSCA vice president and former Indian seamer and coach Venkatesh Prasad said the Association was developing about 10 new grounds with turf wickets in the city, Mandya, Belgaum, Dharwad and Hassan besides few othe areas.
''We have purchased land in the city and other places in the state and the aim is to promote cricket in moffusil areas. At Alur in outskirts of the city, KSCA has a 15-acre prime land and it has already developed one turf wicket and two more would come up soon,'' he said.
He said for the first time KSCA had allowed clubs in the second division to hire four guest players to play for their teams. They can be from any part of the country and the other from the city.
