Kolkata, May 22 : Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians will be battling for positions when they face each other at the Eden Gardens here in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday.
In a battle for the second qualification spot, Knights will be trying to finish the second for the play-offs.
While Knight had their best season so far, the Sachin Tendulkar-led Mumbai Indians have slipped badly in the last phase, losing their last three games. As a result of this, their Net Run-Rate (NRR) plummeted.
The top spot will be taken by the winner of the match between Royal Challenger and Chennai Super Kingh match in Bangalore on Sunday, while the winner of the Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians will have a very good chance of grabbing the second spot, which may be decided on NRR.
So, both Mumbai and Kolkata are expected teams to go all-out for a win, as the top two teams get a second chance to make the final.
Knight Riders' skipper Gautam Gambhir is high on confidence because his side's NRR (+0.476) is far superior to MI's (+0.033). If the Royal Challengers Bangalore lose to the Chennai Super Kings, the winning team at Eden Gardens on Sunday will qualify as the second team.
The Knights will definitely start favourites against the Mumbai Indians.
