Simon Katich, the former Australian
batsman, was named assistant coach
of Indian Premier League (IPL) side
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Katich,
40, will replace former India
wicketkeeper Vijay Dahiya, who held
the post between 2009 and 2015. The
announcement comes days after KKR
announced Jacques Kallis'
appointment as the team's new head
coach.
"It is great to have Simon on my
management team," Kallis said. "I have
played many games against him and
his understanding of the game is very
good. He is a great asset to have and I
really look forward to formulating
plans with him and the rest of the
team to help KKR to another title in
2016."
Katich, a veteran of 56 Tests, retired
from all forms of international cricket
in 2014 when he brought down the
curtains on his T20 career. Read @: KKR name Simon Katich as assistant coach - Cricbuzz
