Google had unveiled Android 6.0 Marshmallow on September 29, 2015. Google's Nexus family was first to get the goods, and the brand new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P were the launch devices for Android 6.0.
According to the Android distribution chart, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now running on 2.3 percent active Android devices. The data is gathered from the new Google Play Store app, which supports Android 2.2 and above, so devices running older versions are not included. However, in August, 2013, versions older than Android 2.2 accounted for about 1% of devices that checked in to Google servers
According to the latest Google reports, Android Lollipop has a total share of around 36.1 percent of active Android devices (Android 5.0 Lollipop runs on 16.9 percent of devices and Android 5.1 Lollipop runs on 19.2 percent). While KitKat, the predecessor of Lollipop is losing its user base and has shrunk to 34%
