Kieron Pollard throws bat at Mitchell Starc during heated IPL clash​

West Indian batsman reacts furiously after Starc hurls the ball in his direction despite Pollard pulling away from the crease

If the Indian Premier League didn't already epitomise everything that is wrong with modern-day cricket, an ugly incident between Kieron Pollard and Mitchell Starc certainly seemd to prove that point. Playing in a heated match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians, Starc kicked off the exchange by aiming a delivery at the West Indian batsman who, moments earlier, had pulled away from the crease. A furious Pollard responded by threatening to hurl his bat in Starc’s direction and only managed to avoid a serious incident by appearing to stop himself at the last moment as the bat slipped out harmlessly towards mid-wicket. Pollard immediately complained to the umpire before the likes of Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli attempted to defuse the situation. Pollard was later run out by the Australian seamer, but his Mumbai Indians side successfully defended 187-5 to win by 19 runs. Not that the result will be what everyone remembers the match for.
