Justin Langer, former Australian Test
opener, will take over temporarily as
coach of Australia in the tri-nation
one-day international series in the
West Indies in 2016 - also involving
South Africa. Langer will replace
Darren Lehmann for a brief stint as he
is expected to be Cricket Australia's
preferred candidate to be Lehmann's
long-term successor.
Langer, who coaches Western
Austarlia, will get a chance to train the
national side while Lehmann takes a
break prior to a long tour of Sri Lanka.
"Looking back now, at the end of the
Ashes campaign and the one-day
series, I was pretty much cooked. You
can't go that long in a run as such, the
summer is easy at home but when
you're on tour - I think that (UK) tour
was four-and-half months at the end
- you have to make sure you're fresh
as best you can," Lehmann told
cricket.com.au.
