I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S25 USA model (SM-S931U1) and my mom has a Samsung Galaxy S23 USA model (SM-911U1). Both of us have Jio Prepaid SIMs both of which supposedly have 5G enabled via MyJio app.

However both the S25 and S23 only connect to "Jio 4G". My dad has a Galaxy S22 Indian Model (SM-S901E/DS) which connects to "Jio True5G" just fine.

Sometime in early 2024, in my mom's S23, I unlocked all the 4G and 5G bands by following the guide at How to Enable All Bands Through Service Menu on US/CA S23 series (including Sub-6 and mmWave) . This worked fine for few months but sometime in late 2024 or early 2025 the S23 stopped connecting to Jio 5G and only connects to Jio 4G.

In my S25, the instructions in the above link does not work so I am unable to unlock all the 4G and 5G bands.

I haven't tried Airtel 5G in either phone (S23 and S25).

Is it Jio or Samsung that is restricting 5G access on non-Indian model phones?
Is it restricted because of Jio using 5G SA (Standalone)?

• This is because Jio's backend system may not recognize the IMEI numbers of these imported devices, effectively blocking 5G access

• Tricks to use 5G on imported devices are temporary, i have one insert sim in indian 5G mobile it may work then in imported one but it's temporary and user model specefic,

• As you have stated that you had activated 5G in your mothers phone but that mobile is diffrent , this is the drawback of these temporary tricks very specific they are.

• I personally don't reccomend to use these unofficial tricks as it can be harmfull for mobile and personal data, try contacing brand regarding this.
