Andrew Poynter, the Ireland batsman,
has called time on his international
and inter-provincial cricket at the age
of 29. He retired because of his
commitments off the field, and will
now spend more time with his young
family and catering to his own
business, AP Sports.
Since making his debut in 2008,
Poynter went on to play 19 One-Day
Internationals (ODIs) and 19 Twenty20
Internationals (T20Is) for Ireland. He
was also part of the squad in the
recently concluded 2016 T20 WC.
"I have always found it tough to
manage an international and inter-
provincial cricket career whilst having
to juggle running my own business, AP
Sports," Poynter said. "I'm head of
youth coaching at Clontarf CC and
have other coaching roles as well as a
young family.
"I feel that I can still perform at inter-
