The ongoing India Premier League (IPL) 5 has so far attracted about 13 million internet users in India claimed a market research by IRMB.
The research was based on users searching for videos, scorecards and other content related to the twenty20 tournament which will culminate this weekend.
The research provided the figures gathered from 1 April to 16 May 2012. According to the figures IPL Indiatimes in partnership with YouTube attracted the majority of the hits with almost 7.5 million unique visitors. Other websites included cricket.yahoo.com with 5.8 million unique visitors, cricinfo.com with 3.4 million hits, IPL T20.com with 2.0 million and cricbuzz.com with a little over 1 million visitors.
The research also added that 8.3 million unique users in India chose live IPL streaming up to 16 May 2012. 1.3 million users watched match highlights and short segments of matches while another 3.7 million users went online to listen to live match commentary.
