First and foremost, what will be Ganguly's role in the IPL? The former India captain is set to continue his association with the franchise, but not in a direct capacity with the Delhi Capitals IPL team. Over the next two years, he will serve as the director of cricket, a position he has held for the past two seasons, but this time for the Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 and the Delhi Capitals team in the Women's Premier League (WPL).
This change is primarily due to Ganguly's association with the JSW Group which will get back control of the team only after two years. In the meantime, the former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will take a step aside, remaining on the sidelines as the GMR Group, owned by Kiran Kumar Grandhi, takes charge of the franchise for the next two years.
Ganguly, as part of the JSW Group, will attend the auction alongside Parth Jindal, the head of JSW. However, his level of involvement, influence and contribution in key decisions remain uncertain. More details are expected in the forthcoming announcements.
This circus of rumours will continue till 31st. Now franchises don't even announce it officially before the deadline because broadcasters do a seperate show to announce retentions
