Nearly four months after iOS 10 was released to public, Apple ’s statistics reveal that the operating system is now running on 76 percent of active iOS devices. This figure was shared on Apple’s App Store support page for developers . The chart also shows that 18 percent of devices continue to run older iOS 9 whereas 6 percent of devices are still running iOS 8 or earlier.

The iOS installation rate has grown significantly over the last two months, jumping up by nearly 24 percent, from what was recorded in October last year. Back then, in just a period of a month, the operating system was recorded to have been installed on over 54 percent of devices. According to a report by MacRumors, iOS 10 was installed on 63 percent of devices as on November 27, 2016.

The spike in iOS 10 adoption rates can be attributed to the release of iOS 10.2 on December 12. The latest iOS update came with several new features, including a new TV app, a set of new emojis, improvements to Live Photos, and a huge list of bug fixes.

iOS 10 debuted on September 13, 2016 with many new features including a revamped Messages experience, iMessage app store, redesigned Maps and Music, a new Home app and much more. An adoption rate of 76 percent in under four months is very impressive and bests the record set by iOS 9. Around this time last year, iOS 9 was recorded to have been installed on 75 percent of active devices.

On the other hand, according to analytics firm
Fiksu, 114 days after release, the iOS 10 is presently installed on 83 percent of active devices. Although do note that third-party trackers typically report higher numbers than Apple’s App Store analysis which is more conservative.
