Hello everyone

We always strive hard to make this place more interesting and innovative. As part of that endeavor, we are introducing a new feature called "Thread Ownership Transfer".

With this, any member can take control of any thread created by anyone. In simple words, you can able to edit the first post of the thread created by any member.

How it is useful?

We have lot of sticky threads which are maintained by various members. At some point, that member may not be available to update it anymore and the thread becomes dormant. Such threads can be transferred to another member who volunteer to maintain it. We can retain the discussion, views of the thread instead of creating a thread from scratch.

Will the original poster who created the thread be able to edit the thread after being transferred to another member?

No. Once the thread is transferred to a new member, the original thread creator will not have the permission to edit the thread.

What if the thread has more information on second, third or subsequent posts?

All the posts, which contains the information about the sticky topic, can be transferred to you and becomes editable by you.

I want to maintain a thread which is very old but I joined recently?

No problem. You can still have it's ownership. The thread created date will remain as is, irrespective of the joining date of the new maintainer.

How do I apply to take ownership of the thread I want to maintain?

Members should create a thread at the TTT section with the thread details for which the ownership is requested.

What threads can be applied for ownership transfer?

It is very simple. The thread should be a sticky thread on any section. The first post of the thread shouldn't have been updated for at least 6 months.

I took ownership of a thread, what next?

The member applying for a thread ownership should have to update the thread regularly for at least 6 months from taking the ownership. If you can't do it, please don't apply.
