Intex Aqua Q8, Cloud s9 launched, priced at Rs 4,200 and Rs 6,499

Intex has of late launched a lot of entry-level smartphones. After launching the Intex Aqua 5.5 VR and Aqua Craze II last week, the company has added more two smartphones to its entry-level portfolio. Called the Intex Cloud s9 and Intex Aqua Q8, the smartphones are priced at Rs 6,499 and Rs 4,200 respectively. The Cloud s9 will be available in grey and blue color variants via Amazon India whereas the Aqua Q8 will come in white, champagne and black color and will be available via offline retails stores.

In an era when brands are focusing more on 4G devices, Intex has been pushing entry-level 3G smartphones. Though it has launched quite a few budget 4G smartphones as well. The Intex Aqua Q8 is aimed at Tier II and Tier III cities where 4G penetration is still not high. The Cloud s9 and Intex Aqua Q8 run Android Marshmallow 6.0 out-of-the-box. And like other Intex smartphones, the two smartphones come preloaded with apps like Matrabhasha, Dailyhunt, Newspoint, Saavn and Opera mini to name a few.

The Cloud s9 has slightly better specifications as compared to the Aqua Q8. It also comes with a fingerprint scanner, making it one of the most affordable smartphones to come with fingerprint scanners. Intex currently offers Cloud String HD, Aqua Secure and Cloud String V2.0 smartphones, priced between Rs 4,499 and Rs 4,999, with fingerprint scanners. The Intex Cloud s9 also comes with 4G VoLTE support.

Intex Aqua Q8 specifications

The smartphone comes with a 4-inch WVGA display. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. Also on offer is 8GB of ROM which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. On the camera front, the smartphone comes with a 5-megapixel camera with Dual LED flash on the rear whereas up front it comes with VGA camera with front flash. Other features of the camera include face beauty, panorama mode, GIF and smile shot.

The Aqua Q8 comes with a 1,650mAh battery, which the company claims is good enough to offer standby time of up to 300 hours and talktime of up to 10 hours. On the connectivity front, the smartphone supports dual-SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The smartphone is also equipped with sensors and other features like G-Sensor, Light and Proximity.

In terms of competition, the smartphone will take on the likes of Alcatel Pixi 4 (Rs 4,999) and Reliance Digital LYF Flame 6 (Rs 2,999).

In comparison to Aqua Q8, the Alcatel Pixi 4 comes with a 5-inch FWVGA display, 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MTK6735M processor paired, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front, 2,000mAh battery, dual-SIM, LTE, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and microUSB. The 4G VoLTE feature is the main highlight of Pixi 4, which is missing from Aqua Q8.

On the other hand, the LYF Flame 6 is among the cheapest smartphones available in India that supports 4G VoLTE. The smartphone comes with a 4-inch WVGA display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 512MB of RAM. It comes with 4GB of onboard storage, which expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. It comes with 2-megapixel front and rear cameras. The device comes with a 1,750mAh battery. Apart from 4G and VoLTE, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, dual SIM and micro-USB 2.0 port. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. While this phone is available for just Rs 2,999, it comes with 4G VoLTE, which is missing from the Intex phone. However, the Intex Aqua Q8 runs Android Marshmallow as compared to Reliance Digital LYF Flame 6, which runs Android Lollipop out-of-the-box. The LYF smartphone also comes bundled with Reliance Jio’s bundled Welcome Offer.

The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch HD IPS display. Under the hood, the smartphone runs 1.3GHZ quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Also on offer is 16GB of internal storage which can be further expanded to 32GB via microSD card.

On the camera front, the smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and flash. There is also a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies. The smartphone is armed with 3,650mAh and the company claims it is good enough to offer talktime of up to 16 hours and standby time of up to 200 hours. On the connectivity front, the smartphone comes with 4G, VoLTE, dual-SIM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 and OTG support. The Clouds s9 comes with some more features like Gesture Control, Emergency Rescue, and Breathing and also comes with sensors like G-sensor, Proximity Sensor and Light Sensor.

The Intex Cloud s9 will compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 3s (Rs 6,999) and Coolpad Mega 2.5D (Rs 6,999).

Talking about the Coolpad Mega 2.5D it comes with a 5.5-inch IPS HD display, Android Marshmallow 6.0, MediaTek MT67355P 64-bit quad-core chipset clocked at 1GHz, 3GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory. It also comes with an 8-megapixel selfie camera, and an 8-megapixel rear camera. It comes with dual SIM 4G LTE with support for VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11n, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0. It is fuelled by a 2,500mAh battery.

On the other hand, the Redmi 3s comes with a 5-inch HD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor along with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone also comes with onboard storage of 16GB, which is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. It runs Android based MIUI 7. On the photography front, the Redmi 3s sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, PDAF and full HD video recording support. It has a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture and full HD video recording support. The smartphone offers connectivity options like dual-SIM (hybrid SIM slot), 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi. It is powered by a 4,100mAh battery.
