Intel has announced Xeon D-2100, a new system-on-chip (SoC) processor architecture to address the needs of edge applications and data center or network applications. With applications and processes moving to the cloud, the demand for computational power has changed a great deal as well. With Xeon D-2100, Intel is addressing those needs with a scalable architecture.
Intel says the new Xeon D-2100 extends the performance of Intel Xeon Scalable platform used in the data center to the network edge and web tier. The SoC will particularly address the needs of network operators and cloud service providers who constantly face the need to continuously grow their performance and capacity without increasing power consumption.
