Ishant Sharma was dropped from the Indian squads for the Asia Cup and the World T20 tournament while Suresh Raina was not part of the squad for the 50-over competition involving Asian teams.

Since the end of the ODI series again Zimbabwe in August 2013, Raina has played 15 matches in which he has scored just 291 runs at an average of 24.25 and not once has he reached the half century mark.

The Indian selectors decided to persist with the left- hander for the World T20 - his impressive T20 record probably coming to his rescue.

Yuvraj Singh was named in the team for the T20 World Cup while Cheteshwar Pujara found a place in the Asia Cup squad. The selectors also included Stuart Binny in both teams.

Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be India's frontline seamers for both the tournaments while Varun Aaron, who is part of both squads, will also be eager for a chance. For the Asia Cup, the Indian captain has the option of including Ishwar Pandey.

The Sandeep Patil-led selection panel has decided to go in with three spinners for both the tournaments. The spin options for MS Dhoni will be R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Amit Mishra.

There is not much of a change in the batting line-up apart from the inclusion of Pujara and the exclusion of Raina for the Asia Cup. For the World T20, the selectors have felt that Yuvraj's presence will be a plus for the Indian side while they have gone in with Rayudu in the Asia Cup team.

Bad decision by Selectors not to involve Raina in Asia Cup because he is a good batsman in Subcontinent pitches. I guess Raina now has to play well in World T20 Cup and IPL to come back in the squad

No bro in my view mishra is a very good leg spinner.

Dhoni should give him more chance to proove himself.

Agree that he is a good leg spinner but he failed in the Ind-Aus series.And with Ashwin and Jadeja in Squad it will be really difficult for him to get a place in the squad.
