India jumped five places in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2019 positioning itself at rank 52, as per a report released on Wednesday. It was ranked 57th in the Index of the year 2018.Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal released the Global Innovation Index rankings in New Delhi on Wednesday. The GII rankings are published annually by Cornell University, INSEAD and the UN World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and GII Knowledge Partners.Switzerland retained its number-one spot on the index. Other economies in the top 10 are: Sweden, the US, the Netherlands, the UK, Finland, Denmark, Singapore, Germany and Israel.
