Darren Bravo and Shivnarine Chanderpaul gave some resistance after early jolts as West Indies reached 64/3 at lunch on the first day of the third and final Test against India at Windsor Park, Dominica on Wednesday.
Scorecard
Indian pacer Ishant Sharma scalped Adrian Barath and Kirk Edwards in quick succession to push West Indies on the back foot.
Ishant, who took 10-wicket haul in the second drawn Test, got his second wicket of the innings. West Indies were tottering at 35/3 in 16.5 overs.
Edwards looked to pull a short delivery and got a faint edge, which landed safely in skipper Dhoni's hand.
Lanky seamer Ishant complimented his opening ball partner as he cleaned up Adrian Barath to reduce the hosts to 24/2 after the end of 13 overs.
Praveen Kumar gave India opening breakthrough early on in the innings after he got rid of debutant Windies opener Kieran Powell.
Powell could only contribute three runs in his first Test innings before he edged one to the second slip where VVS Laxman made no mistake in grabbing it.
Earlier, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and opted to bowl against West Indies. India made one change to the playing XI that drew the second Test in Barbados last Sunday.
Munaf Patel returns from a lingering elbow injury and replaces fellow seamer Abhimanyu Mithun.
West Indies made two changes, with batsmen Lendl Simmons and Ramnaresh Sarwan losing their places due to poor form.
Kieran Powell, a 21-year-old left-hander from Nevis, comes in for Simmons at the top of the order, while Edwards, a right-hander from Barbados, takes Sarwan's spot.
The Indians, who are ranked the top Test side in the world, lead the series 1-0 after winning the first Test by 63 runs inside four days at Sabina Park in Jamaica. They also had the better part of the rain-hit second Test in Barbados which finished in a draw.
Teams:
India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Capt.), Abhinav Mukund, Murali Vijay, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Munaf Patel, Praveen Kumar, Ishant Sharma.
West Indies: Darren Sammy (Capt.), Adrian Barath, Carlton Baugh, Devendra Bishoo, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Fidel Edwards, Kirk Edwards, Kieran Powell, Ravi Rampaul, Marlon Samuels.
