Kabir Khan is next directing a big-scale web series based on the Kandahar hijacking by a Pakistani terrorist group in 1999. The show has tentatively been titled IC 814 and will premiere on the streaming giant Netflix.

Indian news agency ANI has sued Netflix Inc (NFLX.O), opens new tab and producers of an Indian series about a plane hijack, asking for four episodes to be taken down as they used ANI content without permission, ANI's lawyer told Reuters on Monday.

The series, called "IC-814: The Kandahar Hijack" - a fictionalised version of the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines flight 814 from Kathmandu - has been embroiled in controversy since its release last month.

It is called copyright.Try putting a bollywood song in your youtube channel and see how T Series and others will come to hound you.Problem is Indians have very little respect for copyright,data privacy and ofcourse defamation because of our excellent judicial process.If this was US,such incident would have attracted multi million dollars settlement.

To all that were critical of UPA government inaction against Pakistan after 26/11. Remember that we caught a terrorist alive, gave him a trial and humiliated Pakistan at the global stage long before they were caught red handed sheltering Bin Laden. The hijacked plane was literally in our soil and yet we couldn't do anything about it. Even the state was back then ruled by an NDA ally.

Unless someone is 20 yrs old it would be difficult not to know Kandhar hijacks.Every such incident is an embarrassment and a lesson to learn.It's not that BJP wala embarrassment was good and Congress wala was bad.Even the much heralded Kargil war was a massive intelligent failure.By thinking that IC814 outrage was manufactured to hide Vajpayee govt.'s failure is another way of saying that Anubhav Sinha is a Congress stooge who takes money to defame BJP and BJP leaders of past and present.
PS:I will not even compare the govt. responses to 26/11 and Kandhar hijack.Mr. Vilas Rao Deshmukh was on scenes immediately with guess who(Ramgopal Varma),Congress leaders tried their hardest to pin the blame on RSS for the attacks and some even blaming Hindu RW for death of Hemant Karkare.If not for Tukaram Omble the entire blame of 26/11 would have fallen on shoulders of RSS and Hindu RW.That's the difference.

Indeed. Normally, I wouldn't entertain right wing propaganda. I agree with you on this point. This is the true national embarrassment. Blaming RSS for 26/11. This is why I couldn't stand a person like Digvijay Singh.
