HTC today revealed two new smartphones, expected to launch this summer, but only in Asia.
During a Taiwan launch event, the phone maker unveiled the Butterfly S, alongside the new Desire 600 handset.
The 5-inch Butterfly S (left) runs Android Jelly Bean on a quad-core, 1.9-GHz Snapdragon 600, with a massive 3,200 mAh high-capacity battery — which HTC said can handle up to 3.5 days of continuous music playback.
It also comes with a full HD 1080p screen, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot, and quad-band HSPA/WCDMA radio.
Taiwanese customers can pick one up in grey, white, or red, and play around with the UltraPixel camera and Zoe software features, as well as the 2.1-megapixel wide-angle front cam. The phone comes with HTC BlinkFeed, BoomSound, and Sense TV features, as well.
HTC also announced the launch of its Desire 600 handset (right) — a smaller device that comes equipped with a Snapdragon 200 1.2-GHz quad-core processor and 4.5-inch super LCD2 screen.
With the launch of the Butterfly S and Desire 600, "consumers [can] choose products that meet their needs," HTC North Asia general manager Jack Tong said in a statement.
Both phones are expected to hit Taiwanese shelves in July on China Telecom; the Butterfly S will retail for NT $22,900 ($768), while the Desire 600 is priced at NT $12,900 ($433).
This announcement comes soon after HTC revealed its new Desire 200. The low-end smartphone carries a 3.5-inch display, a 1-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor, and 4GB of memory. Pricing has not yet been announced.
In October, HTC unveiled the HTC J Butterfly, a 5-inch tablet for the Japanese market.
