Turn the dial located at the top of the camera. Set the dial to "Shutter-Priority Auto" mode.
Shutter priority mode is used when you want to take pictures of moving subjects. This mode also allows you shoot freeze or blur action pictures. When an image is shot in freeze, everything is in focus. When an image is blurred, only the subject is in focus. Everything else around the subject is blurred.

Adjust the "Commander" dial located at the top right of the back of the camera.
Rotating the "Commander" dial changes the shutter speed. You can choose a shutter speed as fast as 1/4000 of a second to as slow as 30 seconds.

Look through your viewfinder and frame a photo.

Take a few test shots to get a feel for how fast the shutter on the D60 works.

Continue clicking the shutter multiple times in order to get the best action shots. Click the shutter as constantly as possible. Make sure to keep the camera as steady as possible.
