4 - Series won by New Zealand in Asia in 29 attempts - twice in Bangladesh (2004 & 2008) and once each in Pakistan (1969) and Sri Lanka (1984). They have lost eight and drew two ( 1969 & 2003 ) out of the ten series they played on Indian soil.

2 - Matches won by New Zealand in India. They beat India by 167 runs in Nagpur in 1969 and by 136 runs in Mumbai in 1988. Only six out of the 15 members from New Zealand's current squad were born at the time of the Mumbai win.

0.153 - The win-loss ratio of New Zealand in Tests in India - the joint-lowest for them in any host country in Test cricket. They won two, lost 13 and drew 16 out of the 31 Tests they played in India. They have the same win loss ratio in Pakistan as well - two wins, 13 losses and six draws in 21 Tests.

10 - Tests since India lost any under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, the last loss coming in Galle in August 2015. Only Sunil Gavaskar (18), Kapil Dev (17), Mohammad Azharuddin (14) and MS Dhoni (11) had longer undefeated runs for India as captain.

5 - Man of the Series awards won by Ravichandran Ashwin in seven series India played in the subcontinent since his debut in November 2011. He has taken 147 wickets at 20.52 and scored two hundreds at 33.41 in these 22 games (excluding the one-off Test against Bangladesh).

6.63 - Wickets per home Test for Ashwin - the second best for anyone in home Tests since 1900 after Muttiah Muralitharan (6.75 wickets per Test). Ashwin has taken 126 scalps in 19 home Tests at 20.92 with 13 five-wicket hauls and three ten-wicket hauls.

72 - Wickets taken by Ravindra Jadeja in ten first-class matches in India since the start of 2015. He averages a miserly 12.26 per wicket with ten five-wicket hauls in 19 innings.

4 - Hundreds scored by Kane Williamson in 12 Tests in the subcontinent - the most for a Kiwi player. He has scored exactly 1000 runs in Asia with four hundreds and four fifties and a highest of 192.

38.15 - Kane Williamson's average in seven Tests against India. He has scored 496 runs in 13 innings with two hundreds and fifties each, He averages lower only against South Africa - 35.60

0 - Spinners with strike rates better than R Ashwin (46.3) and Ravindra Jadeja (48.5) in home Tests in the last 75 years of Test cricket (minimum qualification of 50 wickets in home Tests).

74.54 - Martin Guptill's batting average in seven Tests against West Indies, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. In the 37 Tests against stronger opponents, he averages a mere 22.63 with a solitary hundred.

21.60 - Average opening wicket stand for India in Tests in Asia (excluding Bangladesh) since the start of 2015. They have gone past fifty just twice with a highest of 80* against South Africa in Bangalore last year.

24.74 - Average of India's No.3 in Tests since January 2014 - the worst among all teams. New Zealand on the other hand have the best average with 72.19.

85.20 - Virat Kohli's average against New Zealand in Tests - the highest for him against any opposition. His scores against them read 58, 103, 51*, 4, 67, 38 and 105*.

6 - Wickets needed by Neil Wagner to reach 100 Test wickets. If he gets there in his next Test, he will be the fastest-ever New Zealander to the landmark eclipsing Richard Hadlee's 25 Tests.

22 - The Holkar Stadium in Indore, which is the venue for the third Test of the series, will become the 22nd ground to host a Test in India. The last time a new city in India hosted Test cricket for the first time was way back in 1990 when Sector 16 Stadium in Chandigarh hosted Sri Lanka.

500 - The first Test in Kanpur will be India's 500th Test match ever. Out of the 499 Tests so far, they won 129, lost 157, drew 212 and tied one. They will become the fourth team to reach the landmark after England (976 Tests), Australia (791) and West Indies (517). Kanpur, incidentally was the host of India's 100th Test win - against Sri Lanka in 2009 .
