The off-field battle between estranged batsman Chris Gayle and the West Indies Cricket Board has left the star completely demoralised. Calling all re-conciliatory measures adopted by the WICB as a sham, Gayle said he has realised that he is not wanted anymore.

According to media reports, the 31-year-old batsman who was overlooked for the home series against India has lost all hopes of making a comeback in the national team. "I have come to the bitter realisation that I am not wanted by the board. All that has gone before in terms of reconciliation is a sham, a mockery," said the Jamaican.

A veteran of 91 Test and 228 ODIs, Gayle's ferocious style of batting took the Indian Premier League by storm this year and his services are believed to be in great demand for T20 tournaments all over including the Big Bash in Australia. His board though had not included in the series against Pakistan and continues to keep him out of the team.

In fact, in recent reports, West Indies coach Ottis Gibson has said that Gayle does not figure in team discussions at all. (Read full report here)

WICB on it's part had been angered when the south-paw had publicly lambasted it on Twitter after completing his stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and taking top-honours as the highest scorer in the IPL.
